DONALD THE ELEPHANT (TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP)

entry picture

(Worldwide fans will be aware that the Republican Party's emblem is the elephant.  Neat, eh?)

One dark day a Republican caucus came

And brought a belligerent elephant and Donald was his name;

Now today he’s plying his dirty tricks

Despite his never being ever schooled in politics.

Donald the Elephant spouts his junk

Which all sub-serves to his purpose

Off he rants

Trumpety-Trump Trump Trump Trump

Donald the Elephant thinks he’s sunk

His rivals but he is not certain

So off he rants

Trumpety-Trump Trump Trump Trump

“The Head of the World”’s his calling

Donald will bray

He says he’s meant to be President

Of the Good Ol’ U S A.

Donald the Elephant’s quick to offend

With rancour and effrontery

And makes his stance on immigrants

Trump Trump Trump

Donald the Elephant says he’ll send

Them back to their native country

Off he rants

Trumpety-Trump Trump Trump Trump

The candidate’s words are galling when he attacks

All womankind; and Donald’s mind’s

To send the Muslims back.

Donald the Elephant spouts his bile

Which all sub-serves to his purpose

Off he rails

Trumpety-Trump Trump Trump Trump

Donald the Elephant’s vicious and vile

But storms the media circus

Let’s prey he’ll fail

And not prevail.

Trump Trump Trump

Or a "hole for one" in some distant windswept northern golf course, perhaps?!

Oops, MC. Our posts must have crossed in the, er, post! If he becomes President look for me in the concrete footings of some new building!

It does indeed lend itself, Vicki.
The elephant being the Republican emblem, Trump/Trump/Trump, the similarity of "intelligent elephant" and "belligerent elephant", likewise, caucus, purpose and circus, etc.
Sometimes the gods of verse send you presents!

JC - if you don't get a call from the Democratic Party,
they will have missed a trick! It could be their call to
arms for this presidential campaign. Just imagine all
those red Republican faces!
Another Coopey masterclass in creative comment set to
songs we oldies remember with affection.

Ah, Jeremy; "damning with faint praise" - an art form in itself.
Thanks for your comments, Yvonne. I don't really like political poetry but this offered so rich a vein I couldn't resist.

it's a nice parody - with some nice word play

but "Despite his never being ever schooled in politics" - this clearly isn't true - if only because he was buying Hilary Clinton for years

still I'm sure it will go down well with the right crowd

But Donald lives in an ivory tower
in which he can take up his stance
He may disparage women -
But wives- well he's had three
And if he wants to close down
US immigration policy
He'd better send his third wife back
To her own home country.
