Will It Ever Snow Again

entry picture

Will it ever snow for us again?

My lovely,

My pretty one with tousled hair and skin like milk

Fall upon fall

Spiralling feathers of ice silent as prayer

As arm in arm upon the weaving river path

We laugh toward the sleeping light of home

White over white

Indigo midnight, a thousand stars and moons

Far below winter kisses you

Light, stinging your frozen cheek

Snow upon snow

So far away and so long ago

I taste the snow from your lip

Somewhere in the distance

A bird cries out across the dark still water

Will it ever snow again for us again?

My lovely

My pretty one with blink brown eyes and soft red mouth

Still over still

Dancing flakes in profusion drift and scurry

As we huddle hurrying

Towards the promise of a new year

Deep upon deep

Until the quiet morning’s chill

Will it ever snow again?
