Sounds like a personal domestic tragedy. Enduring the loss
of a sentient animal in sudden circumstances can be very
traumatic even though animals like cats have the need to
wander, often far beyond their own homes, and that can
only add to the risk of getting the bad news...although
it is usually a vehicle that is the cause.
