IT'S GOOD NEWS WEEK!

entry picture

It’s Good News Week!

Cameron’s back in No 10

I’ve seen his mocking mush again

And George is still next door;

He’s safe in there for 5 years when

We’ll no doubt blow our chance again

To even up the score

And vote for him once more.

It’s Good News Week!

So mark my words, no “ifs” no “buts”,

And brace yourselves for further cuts

12 billion, he confessed;

Nye Bevan – now he’d got some guts

But Nye would think we’d all gone nuts

If we had voted “Yes”

To shaft the NHS.

It’s Good News Week!

And I’m afraid that our UK

Has seen its best, has had its day;

All Dave can do is moan;

For Scotland now is on its way

The Forth, the Spey, the Clyde, the Tay

Stand at the Stone of Scone

And going it alone.

It’s Good News Week!

We voters took a right-hand swerve

So Cameron’s back to rule not serve

No use to whinge and scoff;

If you complain you’ve got a nerve

You’ve got the lot that you deserve -

A bumptious Tory toff.

It’s Good News Week!

So Nic and Nigel’s days are dead

And most deservedly is Ed

His leadership quite bland;

So what does Labour do instead?

Just fights between the pink and red;

Dave smiles and rubs his hands

And makes his third-term plans.

It’s Good News Week!

Cameron’s back in No 10

I’ve seen his mocking mush again

And George is still next door;

He’s safe in there for 5 years when

We’ll no doubt blow our chance again

To even up the score

And vote for him once more.

Ah, Graham. I never knew that. Some stuff inside that gnarled and lived-in bonce of yours!
Is it a poisoned chalice to earn a Europa Cup place? I think qualification even goes down to 7th if the Arse win the Cup.

I seem to recall that the name derived form the group being assembled from a unit of American Airmen helicopter pilots! Hence the hedgehopping.

Indeed, Greg. I don't remember the whole story but seem to recall it was unpleasant. (We betray our ages).

Yes, Hedgehoppers Anonymous ... I didn't realise it was a Jonathan King concoction. Now "their" name has faintly seedy undertones.

I've always been suspicious who those who have certainty on their side, whether they are on the extreme left or extreme right.
"Respect" as they say, MC.

Differences are fine as we can always change our minds
IF good old British common sense comes into play.
Democracy seems less in accord with sympathies that
exist left of centre in UK politics - the word losing
currency when more conservative mindsets takes power.
Suddenly, the latter are some sort of fascist goose-steppers, kicking out at the "less fortunate"(?). It is not
lost on me that the Nazis were, in fact, the National
SOCIALIST Party. I think about that each time the great
and good of the Socialist Workers Party spit and snarl
and go on another street rampage to demonstrate their
own high-kicking version of free speech in action.
Yes - I DO recall the song - and that dates me
sufficiently to say - to borrow from another song: "I've seen both sides now". And for a good many years.

I suspect we have differing political views on many things, MC, but first and foremost I respect democracy. We seem to have an imperfect model of it at the moment; but it is the one we signed up to. If we don't like it now and want to change it to another form (more proportional perhaps) that's for the future.
Are you familiar with the tune (such as I sing it). It was by Hedgehoppers Anonymous (aka Jonathan King) entitled, unsurprisingly, "It's Good News Week".

How I'd love to hear the government has told the
EU that the next annual payment to that profligate
postulation of political preening is instead committed
to the NHS so the next patient with a rare disorder is not deprived of life-saving treatment on grounds of
"cost".
