LE PERE FOUETTARD

entry picture

(IN MANY CULTURES IN THE WORLD THERE CO-EXISTS WITH SANTA THE CONCEPT OF A NASTY SANTA WHO BEATS NAUGHTY CHILDREN.  IN FRANCE HE IS KNOWN AS PERE FOUETTARD)

My Santa you will never see upon your Christmas card,

The counterpart of Pere Noel: his brother, Pere Fouettard.

I know if I’m a good girl that his presents will be mine;

Le Pere Noel will visit me, avuncular, benign.

But if I’ve let my standards slip and been a naughty gel

There will be no Christmas gifts from saintly Pere Noel.

‘Cos if I’ve stained my copybook with morals loose and marred

I must await the stinging hand on me of Pere Fouettard.

“So come in from the cold, Monsieur.  Be seated on my bed

And reprimand this naughty girl and make my bottom red.

I do not care for chocolates, for slippers or a hanky

What I have planned is for your hand to spank me, Father. Spank me”.

So picture me on Santa’s knee as wrappings you unfurl

But make it hard, Monsieur Fouettard, I’ve been a naughty girl.

Au contraire, Ken, my old friend. I would not trust any man who would not want to smack her bottom!

Thanks, Jack. Yes, I think it would warm both parties.

Dodgy motivation. I rather suspect he likes smacking bums, good or bad.

Can't trust anyone these days. Very funny.

What a magnificent, warm, picture you paint. So appropriate for a cold dark evening.

It is often the case that the old ones are the
best! Like old friends, they are always welcome
back.

A bit of festive whimsy, MC. I confess it's a re-post from a Christmas Past.

Sacre bleu! C'est un Joyeux Noel nonpareil, n'est pas?
Hurrah for the hand that comes down hard
Three Christmas cheers for Pere Fouettard!
