Perceptual Sense

Cold, Bitter chill,
Loved, But lonely still.
Smiling, On the outside but,
Inside, Shattered, torn apart,
Damaged, Though hard as steel,
Moving, Yet standing still,
Yearning, For all that's nice,
Loving, yet cold as ice,
Working, For all that's good,
Knowing, But misunderstood,
Calm, While life falls apart,
Hopeful, Of a second chance,
Feelings, Reduced to tears,
Struggle, For so many years,
Winning, I wish I could,
If only, To be understood.

Very clever and observational yet could still be very personal. One of those poems which i think most people can relate to in several ways. Man or woman matters not. :-)

This is so simple yet so profound. It is almost as if you speak to each reader directly, well it certainly speaks to me. It describes me at one stage in my life and it is accurate, which is why this touched me, really did.

I very rarely come across a poem which almost feels as if it is about me or my life at a certain point in the past : )

Some would say that it is slightly cliched (eg 'Feelings, Reduced to tears') but I still think that within the framework and boundary it works well. Cliches used well can work and they do here.

You seem like a writer of experience and I look forward to reading more of your work. What I like is the succint nature of this and it does not baffle the reader with images leading to frustration.

Thank you ( what would we do without words hey)
