Things Can Only Get Bitter

entry picture

You’ve had your vote

You’ve had your say

You spoke up for

The Forth and Tay

Would you reject

The status quo?

Independence?

But you said “No”

I’m sad to say

For our UK

The whole debate

Won’t go away

The nationalists

Will just want more

We’ve opened up

A running sore

Things can only get bitter

Can only bitter

From now on

Things can only get bitter

Can only bitter

From now on

Things can only get bitter

Can only bitter

From now on

Thanks for your kind comments, Daniel. But truly, I aspire to the three chords of the Quo.

Another cracker John... and more chords than the real Status Quo :)
I really enjoy your jovial and musical masterpieces. Nice one.

Perhaps we should all lobby for the right to vote for whether WE want Scotland to stay part of the UK. Salmond might just get his way then.

Hello MC. I understand the formula for the division of resources in Czechoslovakia was entirely population-based. The Czech Republic was twice the size in population terms as Slovakia, so resources were apportioned 2 to 1. Scotland has a population of 5m and the rest of the UK 58m. I wonder if any settlement would be apportioned 11 to 1?

We have to hope that the UK government and opposition come up with something that helps
the Scots feel they have gained something
towards their self-determination in-house whilst allowing for defence and foreign policy
to be decided for the UK as a whole. Much of
the discontent seems to be about how much power
the Scots have over their own affairs within
their borders and as long as the financial
settlement per head of population is not
unnecessarily more than that enjoyed by
the rest of the UK population, it will be hard
to understand why that isn't acceptable in
Scotland.
Yet - isn't it strange how Scots beyond its
borders couldn't vote while any EU referendum
will allow ex-patriate Brits. - many of whom
will be in comfortable circumstances on the
Continent - a vote on whether the UK stays in
the EU?
Our politically employed certainly LOVE their
"power platform" connection with Brussels.

The really dishonourable
Thing for me is that both camps agree it was a binding and long term decision. Salmon then says that Scotland rejects independence "at this time". The Yes campaign says "the fight continues". If you can't believe what someone has just said how can you believe what they say next?

Bang on John,
There's an awful lot of my acquaintances that almost wish they had voted yes.
