I
Buried in borrowed light
You're glad you are wearing glasses
walking home in the darkness
II
Catching dreams
You reflect on your youth
Writing songs for nobody.
III
Listening to silence
Spear minting itself across the tracks
Broken up in the wind
IV
Leaves line the tracks
Like tears for a fallen empire
Hoping for a change.
V
On your own again
Dancing across the leaves
Searching for answers
In the sub plot.
VI
Homeward bound
Sailing across the winds
As wheels dance into
The moonlight.
VII
Whistling with a pair of dice
Rolling over your knee
Wondering which route
Should you go home?
VIII
Pedalling across stop to stop
The train stutters then stops
Standing out from the crowd.
VIX
Straying off from the intended direction
Your feet wander down different paths
Losing their way but not caring.
X
Half hung moments still linger in the wind
Echoing from the previous night
In broken sunshine.
XI
The day is difficult to start
Carrying yesterday’s feelings
Into the mist
Avoiding my every gaze.
XII
Chained up in sleep
My eyes roll over and over
Crossing bridges instead of sheep.
XIII
Close your eyes
Grabbing the bed sheets
Back from the waves of sleep.
XIV
Wind carrying on the edge of the window
Stripping away the memories
Of the endless sunshine from yesterday.
XV
Whispering across the skies
The clouds are carried away by the wind
Acknowledging a silent applause.
