Christmas Calamities

It's nine 0'clock it's up the dancers

Time for the siblings to settle

With the kids snuggled up tight

Into the attic you climb

The operation at full fettle

With all the parcels of toys and treats

Retrieved from the dusty enclave

You soon feel guilty about the santa imposter

Who you claim resides in a cave

While the kids snooze soundly in their pit

The gifts are gradually retrieved

With pinpoint precision

And no indecision

The presents are rapidly seized

With stair creaks that chill

The prezzies are brought down

To the tinsel less tree in the corner

Passed down from generation to generation

Its branches rusty and naked

The presents are finally assembled around the tree

The father feels faint from the booze

Feeling lightheaded he falls headfirst into the tree

The fairylights shattered and fused

With the mess cleared up they retire to bed

But the fella like any boozed up geezer

Left the turkey forgotten and untouched

Lying solid in the bottom of the freezer
