Your God and My God

Do you suppose

that your God

and my God

are the same God?

Or if they aren't

that they get along

just fine?

We are all products of our times for sure. In
terms of a newly emerging religious movement that
offered an invisible omnipotent force, how useful
to keep a woman's place as "mother" in terms of
a mere mortal being "intacto". No need of human
interference when "birth" of a "Son of God"
can be explained away for easily convinced
sensibilities that knew no better, feared
everything and hoped for something better in
death than they ever knew in life.

Hello Shirley,
One God who doesn't make room for another God to sit in the sun seems to me to have a bit of an inferiority complex.

Nice poem.
Couldn't agree more. If we could just accept each other and not slam each others religions we'd get along a lot better.

Yes indeed, Phil. It strikes me that each God might allow the others their place in the sun.
MC - Good point about women being so overlooked in world religions. As you say, a function of their times.

Perhaps the old ways with their many gods had a
more logical "take" on these things. You could
appeal to whoever was appropriate to your need
at the time and shift the blame if that didn't
work out.
We should also be asking ourselves why there is
no "daughter of God"...the absence of which surely
reflects the times in which the omnipotent God-
movement really got going. Women three paces to
the rear - if they were even considered as worth
a mention.

Oh God and the numerous names. Not to mention countless wars waged because of it. Whose take on God is exactly right. Methinks the jury is still out. Remains the topic of many top selling books though. Watch out John, he's standing behind you - just kidding.

"Profound" you say, Starfish? I've been called "Profane" before but not "Profound"!

So few words making such a profound statement methinks.
