50,000

entry picture
50,000 faces lined the streets
From Deansgate to Whitworth Park.

50,000 socialist workers,
Greens
Communists,
Mothers
And disabled all lined the streets.

50,000 marching the save the NHS
Protest against the bedroom tax
And cuts in everything
From trees to jobs.

50,000 people protesting against
Having to community work everyday
When out of work
And facing the cost of having
To work until they cannot get out of bed.

50,000 people protesting for the young
Thrown out into the wilderness
After leaving school and college
And 50,000 protesting against
Everything the Tories stood for.

50,000 votes thrown off a cliff
Despite their claims we are coming
To the edge of a tunnel
And the economy is turning the corner.

Yeah, straight under the wheel
of an incoming train.

thanks to Steve, Charles and Lynn for their comments here.

it remains to be seen whether the 50,000 will be heard. It didn't happen at Peterloo until a long, long time later but we live in hope.

Brilliant, angry, plain; it travels perfectly across the sea.
