Our Guest Poet

Write Out Loud's - Dave Morgan

Dave's poetry leaps through kitchen sink dramas, comes to terms with the tough boots of father son relationships and deals in life's choker tough moments.  Serious, profound and philosophical one moment, the handbreak comes off the next.  Surreal dreams of sleeping bags and cars that are there, but aren't and who had the keys anyway?, Dry, wity, druunnken teller of tales prepared to use the word fuck.

A humorous self depreciating poet - of his poetry Dave says; I turned on to poetry at the age of 5 after winning a plastic army lorry for reciting "I had a little pony" at the Coronation celebration in our local pub, "Scrimmies", in 1953. I have never looked back although the prizes never seemed to get bigger or better!

A well versed performer with a wonderfully warm voice and stage presence.  A great guest poet!  Check out Dave below;

Our Guest Artist

Carl Allan "The Huyton Minstrel"

Carl Allan is one of Liverpool's finest songwriters; a singer songwriter's - singer songwriter.   With bitingly brilliant dark political satire he carves truth out of duplicitous politics with songs like "Truth now lies" and "Fatman".  With songs of elegance and beauty he uplifits the spirit in a celebratory glory of all that is pure, "Seeds", "Cool Waters".  Shaking the fleas off of this dog eared life comedy is found with "Doghairs" and life packs a punch with "which Round" a song about the boxer Dirty Derry Mathews.

I have to admit Carl is one of my favourite singer-songwriter musicians.  He writes great songs and has a unique delivery and style all of his own.  Cliched or not, I'm going to say it, on some of the political songs - if Roger Waters - had a scouse style...don't miss him!
