APART

I've always stood apart, you know,

It's something that I do;

I stood apart from those I loved

As I stand apart from you.

Just like the solitary copper

Out on a busy street,

Every day I've stood apart

From those that I might meet.

I've stood apart from life itself,

From all its highs and lows;

I've stood apart too often

To see how fast it goes.

And when at last my time draws near,

And with it my last breath,

If I had my way I'd stand apart

From that nosy nuisance death!

Ha! Never thought of death as a nosy nuisance..the humour of the last verse tempers the rest I think..many stand apart for whatever reason.
