Now and then

entry picture

Now and then

I want to tell you

I am something different

To what you think I am.

I want to hold your hand

Now and then

And look into your eyes

Before turning away

Suddenly just to confuse you.

Now and then

I want to write love song

After love song

For you

And keep writing

Until the skin starts

To fall off my fingers.

I want to keep kissing you

Now and then

Until you scream at me

To please stop

And I carry on anyhow.

Now and then

I want to whisk us away

To somewhere

Neither of us

Have ever, ever been

And keep driving until

We reach the edge of the world

And look at

The sun and the moon

Kissing like perfect lovers

And compare them to us.

But other times

I just want things to stay

The way they are.

The ending is fine and makes the poem. I wonder about the 4th verse, seems a little out of key to the rest.

thanks to all who have commented here.. the piece really says it all i guess but it's nice to write something more gentle instead of the hate and angry pieces.. x

This is delightful Andy. Great that you're in a situation where these kind of words and feelings flow.

What a lovely ending, Andy. It sounds to me like someone is rather in love...
It's great to see happiness celebrated. So often we forget to do that, yet turn to poetry in times of sadness.

Hope to see you at a venue soon.
