Daughter (II)

To be read after Daughter, as this follows on.

2003

Every mother’s

worse nightmare,

what more could I do?

That last letter

you sent me

from prison

had me in floods of tears.

How you hated it in there,

how sorry you were

for all that you had

put us through,

and how everything

would be so different

on your release.

I hoped and I prayed

that you truly had

turned the corner

but only time would tell…

2004

A new granddaughter!

And oh, what a change

in my fallen angel,

practically recovered.

Weaning yourself off

the methadone

to be a good mother

to our cherub.

How fortunate I feel

that you were ready

to move on

in a new relationship

with a long-standing friend

so soon after your release.

And how proud we are,

your father and I

to witness

such a change around.

Thanks for your kind comments, Stef. So pleased that Tricia was able to get you back on the straight and narrow. I'm just relieved I never took that route in the 60's, not sure I would have been so strong as our daughter in getting clean.

thank heaven the situation
is getting better Lynn.

I did the drug scene in the 60,s
but mainly pill popping
and wakky bakky smoking
but never the heavier drugs.

that was mainly due to the intervention
by Patricia
who helped set me on the straight
and narrow.

a few of my 60,s friends died
most of them because of using
dirty needles.

the closest I came to having
half a day out with the undertaker
was when I popped a large handful
of what was known in those days
as 'black bombers/purple hearts.

again and thankfully for the last time
Tricia(and my mum-in-law came to the rescue.

Phew!!! and never again!!

so pleased all seems ok for you and yours now

Hmm, seems that posting Daughter (II) has caused Daughter to disappear from the listing. :(
This is to be read after the first one, as it follows on.

Yes Stella, thank you for caring. The little one is seven now, and has kept her mum on the ball, as it were. xx
