City my City

I went to London to visit the Queen

She  was in a bohemian in rhapsody

I went to see the trooping of the colour

I was disappointed; it was in black and white

Took a trip to Madame Tussauds

Found two women with foils

Experience the London Eye; I thought a must, closed

There was a notice, said ‘Gone to Spec-savers’

I went to see Nelson’s Column

Talk about getting an inferiority complex

I travelled underground, I travelled over-ground

I was wombling free

Getting to attractions was no problem,

There was a park and ride service using the M25

God bless our capital, God bless our Queen

God bless Gordon Brown our new Mr Been

I think you read this out at Freed Up, didn't you? If so, I remember enjoying it although I do think Janet's suggestion was spot on thou!

That's the beauty of poetry - it's subjective. To me, I enjoyed those lines. Work on the rest!
Only joking Phil. This is light hearted fun that would work fine in performance. Speaking of which, you were noted for your absence at Wigan's last open mic event.C'mon, you know it makes sense. See you on the 14th?

Hi Philip, If you'd left the 4th line without the disappointed bit and dropped the specsaver line, this would be even more humorous than it already is.
In my very wombly experience and opinion.

Thanks, Janet.x
