Take one thought

entry picture

Brief, brief memories engraved me

Transitory are memories engraved in me

Fruit for thought must recall this

Brief, brief memories engraved me

Written note to help remember this

Brief, brief memories engraved me

One thought, one note

Some stay, some don’t

Memories fall over the abyss

Like forgetting small childhood dreams

Brief, brief memories engraved me

Tossed lightly in soda streams

Brief, brief memories engraved me

Those sips were mine

Images decline

Memories fall over the abyss

Breakdown of my memory cells

Brief, brief memories engraved me

My Parkinson’s dwells

Brief, brief memories engraved me

Drugs do me a favour

Steer me through my days

Short term memory fades

I count his blessings from above

Brief, brief memories engraved me

Surrounded by my families love

Brief, brief memories engraved me

My wife, my life

Her love through life

Memories fall over the abyss

Memories fall over the abyss

Philip, I too liked the rhythm but also the poignancy of this - thank you. Wonderful.

Memories fall over the abyss.
Such profound words which can be taken to mean several things. I'd like to think that only my bad memories will fall over the abyss.

There's a great rhythm flowing through your poem and hopefully, i'll hear it performed soon.
Thanks Philip,
