Jack

I snuggle in my mum’s bed

Soft sweet scented quilt

Fluffy pillow for my head

Every night this is where I lie to dream

Every night this is where I dream I’ll lie

My dad sits quietly telling tails

Of scary pirates and treasure

With their bounty they set sail

Every night this is where I lie to dream

Every night this is where I dream I’ll lie

Dad sneaks out, thinks I’m asleep

I’m Jack the baddest ever pirate

Found ten pence, all mine to keep

Every night this is where I lie to dream

Every night this is where I dream I’ll lie

I fight baddies along mattress deck

Coat hanger sword in my hand

Dad’s coming back upstairs, oh heck!

Every night this is where I lie to dream

Every night this is where I dream I’ll lie

I’m swinging from mast to snugly bed

To hide my golden treasure

But miss, landing on the floor instead

Every night this is where I lie to dream

Every night this is where I dream I’ll lie

Blackbeard sails in, rescues me from a shark

Swimming in ‘The Carpet Sea’

Gives a secret pirate hug, looks a bit dark

Every night this is where I lie to dream

Every night this is where I dream I’ll lie

I back in mum’s snugly, sweet scented bed

A quilt of clouds, the softest pillow

‘Goodnight me hearty’, says dad, ’sleepy head’

Every night this is where I lie to dream

Every night this is where I dream I’ll ZZZZZ!!

Kids adventures. Aren't they great.
It reminds me of my childhood. Three in a bed, literally. All pretending to be asleep and stifling giggles by trying to make them sound like snores.
Thankyou for the smiley memory :-)

Thank you Jeff and Tim for your kinds. My youngest son Jack, agred 9, was my inspiration behind this poem. I was reading to him, in his mums bed when the words came to me. I had to dash to write the basic framework before finishing writing the poem. Thank you Jeff for the ultimate complement of showing your daughter.
