I always loved the elephant

The elephant in my room

We used to have such laughs and chats

I hope he comes back soon!

Each day was such a riot -

oh what would happen next!

but now it's gone all quiet

and I am really vexed.

For there has been spring cleaning

He had to go away

And now the house is boring

Cos he’s not here to play.

My other toys are oh so dull

That action man and barbie

They’re sharp and hard, not cuddly

Like my best friend used to be.

So I think I’ll leave my new toys

And go and play in the garden

And if I never speak to them

I hope they’ll beg my pardon!

Be careful what you wish for

Is all I have to say

You may find that there’s no one there

Next time you want to play

Change can sometimes feel uncomfortable initially, but things never stay the same for long anyway. It can be an exciting new adventure though, if you use your imagination... ; )

Good poem Ann.

All it's ever possible to do is please some of the people some of the time

I've never much been into stuffed animals - give me real people any day. All the stuff we keep as momentos is just stuff, dispensable stuff. But then, I'm probably one of those hard, sharp types you talk about...

The elephant may be gone
but there are other toys
and they can be such fun
for every girl and boy

Now dry your salty tears
for goodness sake please stay
we want to keep you here
to play the days away

Charming, Ann, and something a grumpy old git like me should always bear in mind.
