A Lifetime of Love. (A Blitz poem)
Time drunk down with ravenous thirst.
Time: Though we desire it, it’s cursed,
Cursed: Precious love, unused,
Cursed, precious love, refused.
Refused love shelved, love unrequited,
Refused love, once decisive, now flighted.
Flighted: unable in love to partake,
Flighted, everything before now, a mistake.
Mistake: I thought you and I were true,
Mistake: I thought the future for me was you.
You, however, had a different thought,
You considered us as naught.
Naught, you built your castle, dug your moat,
Naught, we were no longer an important note.
Note to self, beware the Ides,
Note to self, love’s no longer beside.
Beside is where we felt most secure,
Beside, our passion was less obscure.
Obscure intentions now met with a frown,
Obscure the light of life turned down.
Down, I didn’t think I’d ever rise,
Down, what was our love has since capsized.
Capsized, we allowed our love to drown,
Capsized, forlornly swimming towards love's ghost town.
Ghost town, the future’s frightening,
Ghost town, no hope of love’s rebirth heightening.
Heightening the thought that we and love give in,
Heightening the expectation that no quarter given.
Given the opportunity to plunge the knife,
Given our shared love, shut out from life.
Life is not considered an idiosyncrasy,
Life is not a gift but a responsibility.
Responsibility to do our best,
Responsibility to continue our quest.
Quest to find that one,
Quest to become that two.
Two who eventually become much more,
Two eventually may become three or four.
Four who live their life in panoramic,
Four who follow the family dynamic.
Dynamic in action and loving deed,
Dynamic where shackled love is freed.
Freed from previous love, all ties severed,
Freed to discover a forever together.
Together, a new love, a new duet sung,
Together, new bonds of love are strung.
Strung, a future woven far and wide,
Strung in concert, two worlds in unison stride.
Stride determinedly across life’s morass,
Stride forward, in this, our love, first-class.
