Naofa Deatach! [Luimneach Thriarach]

Holy smoke! We’ve a Pope! Triple Limerick.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, knock me down with a feather!

There’s been a grand change in the weather,

Maga snowflakes are wilting,

God’s light’s unrelenting,

Now the Orange one’s all in a lather.

There’s a saying, cold hands and warm hearts,

Do Don’s tiny hands hold big parts?

Has he been a - messin’

Where he shouldn’t a - been messin’?

Best confess, Don, and beg Leo’s blessing!

Yes, bless you, Pope Leo the Fourteenth,

The fascists are venting their spleen,

Snowflakes are in meltdown,

That a Marxist’s been crowned,

Poor Don wears a frown, he’s a has-been.

I've used writing a Limerick as an opportunity to practice my Irish (Gaelic). As far as I know, there's no evidence that the form originated in Limerick; but it has been proposed that the name came about as a result of the Irish tradition of story-telling.
I've always maintained that the essence of Jesus' message was socialism...wonder of wonders, at last, a socialist Pope, who can get the bigots' backs up!😊

Maidin mhaith, Rolph.
Well spotted...the influence of music and poetry eh; let's make a song and dance about it !

Good morning Uilleam,
What a thought-provoking piece that doesn’t shy away from making bold statements. Great. Some lines of it also remind me of N. Sinatra's song: These boots are made...

Regards,
Rolph
