Each passing piece of wooden flotsam

we jammed into place

where a submerged snaggletooth rock

had sharply caught us unaware and holed us by surprise

 

but with the assisting nautical maturity of the boat

the fact that it wasn't prepared to go down

with all blamed hands on board

and having a lifebelted attitude of its own

seemed to be the defiant reason

why we hadn't ended up ( or down more like )

thrashing about in and gulping down watery dollops

of each highly folded frothed incoming wave

 

which in turn had the silver lining effect

of violently though mercifully

hurling each of out unaccustomed to naval emergencies

landlubbing fate tempting

so very grateful bodies onto the beach

holey boat and all!
