Looking for some poem to plagiarise
Pretend I made it up before your eyes
Got to be profound with deepest meaning
Tell you that it all came through dreaming
Or through transcendental meditation
Perhaps even via drugs or medication
Still I cannot seem to find rhyme or reason
Is adapting one of my own poems treason?
The message is ongoing, the question timeless. All art is
derivative. But in many ways, we stand on the shoulders of
giants and have nothing to add to what is already there to be
read of hands and minds that worked at their craft many
generations ago. We can only do our best in our own way.
Or - as Frankie Howard might say - "Please yerself!!".
