LEVELLING UP HS2

Don’t hear that train a-comin’

The service it will end

At New St Station, Birmingham

Cos Rishi will not spend

The fortune that is needed

Paid by me and you

The North can kiss ta-ta

To the HS2.

I hear he keeps on saying

The spades are in the ground

You’ll find them South of Watford though

The spades aren’t Northern bound

So for this brass-necked turn round

Raise the champagne cup

He’s shafted Leeds now Manchester

And shafted Levelling Up.

Speaking as a Southerner looking to the North,
I don 't blame them being angry and loudly holding forth;
The money was better spent there, truly "money's worth"
Improving links far from the capital, providing their ha'porth!

Thankyou Greg and Stephen. I didn’t realise there was a Curzon St Station in Birmingham, Greg. I shall rectify this in performance. Shows how long I’ve been out of train spotting.
I must confess I have ambivalent views about HS2. Whilst I enjoy the Government embarrassment over its cancellation, I always thought it a waste of money for a second-world country. What is irritating about this though, is that I find myself agreeing with Jacob Rees-Mogg.
And thanks for the Likes Nigel and Red Brick.

Nice one, John. I reckon the spads have won over the spades.
The next step will probably be to stop the line at Watford.

Er, Curzon St, Birmingham, I think you'll find, JC, a trainspotter adds. I'll get my coat ...

Calm, measured and angry. Love it!
