Manifesto

entry picture

Whether it is a war of personal attrition,

Detrimentally involuntary

Or a war of hatred with their neighbour

Muscle flexing showing national pride and anxiety

Whether it’s climate change, wearing thin our planet,

Many single voices spouting climatic rhetoric

heckled and shackled by those likely to lose livelihoods

Not thinking that eventually, we all lose our lives

Water shortage, food shortage, energy shortage

Intellectual and judicious shortage

A people shortage in a world of abundance

Let's remove those country borders that stifle growth

Destroy obstacles to mass migration

Allow those yoked either in wealth or poverty

Free rein to delve deeply across this vast globe

Reassure families they can grow without fear

And their children will benefit from others' benevolence

So far mismanaged democratic ideology has shown itself

To be no better than Communism, despotism or fundamentalism

Fascists, Marxists, Christian or Muslim radicals

Show no sign of being the way forward

They all blockade the free movement of ideals

Preconceived and constructed barriers

Create vexatious fears

Sexual, racial and inequality of opportunity

Barriers to the disabled and unenabled

The young, the frail, the sick, the bewildered

Homophobia, heterophobia, transphobia, lesbiphobia

“I’ve just got a phobia.”

Against those that think they know the best

Governments, lobbyists, and unionists

Activists, those single-focused do-gooders

Blinkered from looking through the big-picture window

They will never learn that there are no solutions

From living in a monophonic world

Let's remove personal tax liability

Let the people grow what they sow

Dissolve regional and national governments

Have a world order and orderliness

This will incite a hurricane of trepidation

But once the dust has settled,

We will eventually live in peace

Thank you, Stephen. I stand ready to take over the world.

I agree with Keith, deeply magnificent. Perhaps it's time to turn the world upside down (with as much kindness as possible for each living being). Some say we are at a point of evolutionary transition, and we have some choices to make, collectively and individually. I don't know if this is true, but this poem contributes to the energetic conversation.

Some might think the author of this poem is barmy and claiming a utopia for the future. Others like those those at the Conference of Berlin which drew many of Africa's borders would reel in horror. The more pragmatic would dismiss it out of hand. Yet as a lone voice this poem embodies the answer to a world riven by greed and self preservation, rooted in ignorance and prejudice and doomed to maintaining a perpetual cycle of self destruction. A prophetic poem, one of hope and requires much soul searching from all who read it.
Magnificent
Thank you for this
Keith
