I'LL HANG ON

entry picture

I’ll hang on to what I’ve got

I’ll ride out these bastards’ plot

Something’s bound to turn up for me

I’ll hang on, hang on, hang on to what I’ve got.

Fuck them all – the 148

I shall never abdicate

They underestimate my ego

I’ll hang on, hang on, hang on to what I’ve got.

I don’t care what people say

The precedent of Theresa May

Just like shit sticks to a blanket

I’ll hang on, hang on, hang on to what I’ve got.

I’ll ride out the jeers and boos

I’ll hang my head at PMQs

Just call me Shameless Johnson

I’ll hang on, hang on, hang on to what I’ve got.

Don’t talk to me of decency

Honour or morality

When it’s all about Me, Me, Me

I’ll hang on, hang on, hang on to what I’ve got.

I’ve always thought it should be “other people” who should be held to account, MC.

Accountable? What a lovely flexible word so popular with
politicians of any recent era. Today sees the police seeing
accountability due to eveything except its proper role as a
public service:: impartiality. Chief officers are practitioners of politically endorsed policies that directly interfere with independent policing, with a MSM that is on its back at every
virtue-signalling opportunity. Accountable? Oh yes...forget about the courts, the discipline code and complaints process
- and internal investigative actions that affected many a promising career while complaining villains of every stripe
walked away laughing. Check vioklent crime now against
what was around before PC mania seized control. Not a
very reassuring situation and, as far as protection of the public
is concerned, not to be viewed with anything like confidence -
with a very small "c".
Evening all!

Wasn’t it David Blunkett who made the biggest strides in making the police accountable? I recall several of my friends in the police who were horrified at the prospect.

May and Major. Two politicians who, respectively, put the police
service and the nation's head of state to the sword without a backward glance. And neither, like Blair, have the decency to shut up in their post political office dotage. Cynic...moi, monsieur? Ce n'est pas possible! 😋

Thankyou for your thoughts, Russell and MC. All politicians develop a thick skin,MC, but some have a smidgin of decency; May and Major spring to mind.
“Tossing and turning”, Russell? Or was that The Ivy League?

I can see Frankie Valli now, just waiting to die so he can spin in his grave😁

"A Man for the Four Seasons"?? 😎
Politics is a shifty business at the best of times and the present
incumbent seems well suited in terms of today's morality (or lack of it). Ask Putin or the PM of Ukraine and I have a sneaky feeling
they'd agree, but from differing perspectives.

Thanks, Stephen. I considered “The Party’s Over” but got beaten to it by every daily newspaper headline it seems.

Nice one, John. Shameless is the word, unfortunately.

Nice work, John. Perhaps another one could be to the tune of Clapton's 'Cocaine'?
