Outbreak of 'cancel culture' on the Write Out Loud Gig Guide?

entry picture

We’re sure you’ve noticed that we have an expanded Write Out Loud Gig Guide on our home page again, which includes online and in-person events. You may also have noticed that a few of them are marked ‘Cancelled’. It's not because of an outbreak of 'cancel culture'. Instead, it’s because we have been going through apparently long-standing events one by one as they pop up on the page - to check, as best we can, whether they are still running.

We have always relied on gig organisers keeping their events on our Gig Guide up to date. But we accept that during the pandemic the usual rules could not always apply. Sadly it is also the case that one or two gig organisers have died during the time of Covid.

So we feel we are making a fresh start now with the Gig Guide. Apologies if your event has been incorrectly deleted, or marked ‘Cancelled’. But we’re confident that the Gig Guide is now much more accurate than it was, and we aim to keep it that way.

And please feel free to start adding your events to our Gig Guide again. With around 2,000 visits to the page per day, you know it makes sense!
