Finding Time

I forgot what day it was

it's like that

when you're retired

there is no clock to punch

no calendar to cross off

nothing to measure time by

but you don't worry about it

a day is just a day

you wake up

the whole week is gone

then you wonder what happened

and where time went

if you could ever find that place

where time goes

you could get all those weeks back

and relive them once again

but time is mysterious

we do not know where it goes

or where its hiding place is

so we live in the present

thinking we have time to spare

until it's too late

and we end up finally finding time

and then ironically

wish we hadn't found it.

Time - surely one of the most unfathomable realities of life. No
wonder it fascinates us! Only photography seems able to capture
individual visual moments while audio recording holds sound in
perpetuity. I wonder how the likes of The Battle of Waterloo would
have appeared if either had been around then.
