JANUARY THE FIRST

Hurrah - let's welcome January the First

If nothing else - it's not the worst

Of New Year Days that's ever been

Looking back at what this world has seen.

Twenty twenty saw lots of plenty

But not the sort the cognoscenti

Of healthy living would have chosen -

An invader that lingered as if frozen

In time that seemed interminable

To become something abominable

But adversity saw courage cause

Discoveries to make infection pause

And seem to show a weakness there

That offered hope that this would share

Between the now and times to come

The armour of protection that in sum

Will see the plague be shown the door

With us free from its grip for evermore.

So - let's welcome twenty twenty one

Like a bright new dawn and its life-giving sun.

KJ, TD, KYW and JAN - many thanks for taking the trouble to comment. And thanks also to those leaving the "likes" for this bit
of personal positivity. As an old saying reminds me :Hope springs eternal.
