November is here

November is here

This quiescent mist which envelopes

the landscape

An inaminate veil as a blanket of

obscurity

Heralds the onset of shorter days

and longer periods of darkness

Into this stagnant gloom we reflect

on death as nature falls dormant

A time of All Souls and of Remembrance

An apt climate choreographed for a

season of meditation

Hibernation and lockdown are

ever present in this dulled world

Nature is inert and unresponsive

No response is genuine or appropriate

We languish in the doldrums of a

colourless sea where the waves have

retreated and the moon stares blankly

Deliciously descriptive, not just of the season, but also the mood of the nation.
