BE GRATEFUL FOR THE DARK DAYS

A lyric from other days that seems appropriate at this time.

...................................................................................

Be grateful for the dark days,

And when they come along

Don't waste your time in worrying

Just how it all went wrong.

Be grateful for the dark days

And when they come in sight

Don't devote time despairing

Whether things will turn out right.

Be grateful for the dark days,

They're here to make you glad

When everything about them

Makes you think that life is bad.

Folk will always seek the sun,

To help the soul feel good,

But who'd have sunshine every day

Even if they could?

We need the darker side of life

To make us strong, I guess,

And help us all appreciate

Our lives when we have less.

Be grateful for the dark days -

The dark days are soon past;

They come along to show us

That the worst times never last.

Be grateful for the dark days,

They lead you to the rest;;

As sure as night gives way to day,

They take you to the best.

Be grateful for the dark days

That soon will fade from sight;

Why waste your time in worrying

When you're led towards the light?!

Brian - I agree about the "downers" that are met on the site. The
human spirit is meant for optimism.
JC - unlike your good self, i enjoy autumn - for a variety of reasons,
but mainly because it represents the pause between the departure
of the old and arrival of the new - as if nature is taking a deep
breath before getting back to work, even here in the heart of a great city.
Thanks to all those taking the trouble to like this little hymn to hope!..

I hate autumn.
If the best that can be said of it is that better days will come, then we should all bang our heads against the wall because it will be nice when we stop.
(Nice poem, by the way).

A bit like the seasons...we can be knee deep in snow, or being lashed by rain, but we always have the better weather to look forward to. That is the basis of optimism, something others on this site would do well to consider instead of constantly haranguing us with their dark messages.
