A Thousand Years Ago

It’s happened all before:

People lived and loved

A thousand years ago,

Or so.

They had petty squabbles

And were late for work

They spent money they didn’t have

And bought things they didn’t need

They lived and died

And laughed and cried

A thousand years ago,

Or so.

Men chased their lovers

And they wined and dined

And made love under the covers

Kings and queens and Emperors

Ruled over others

Laws were made

And laws were broken

And promises were made

And writers wrote of many things

And plenty of words were spoken.

It’s happened all before

And the world was made anew

Its been remade a thousand times

A thousand times, or so
