An Art teacher and illustrator - I began writing for myself. Initially my aim was a mixture of learning to write and perhaps needing an outlet/attention following a difficult personal period. Though these initial aims were not entirely from a love of poetry, I have come to love writing and listening to the words of others. It brings me a great sense of peace when I have written something that I am proud of. I hope to continue to learn and see where this journey takes me

Flowers on a lamppost Dying in the sun A seed A son He grows He flowers He blossoms He bears his fruit "See ya mum, dad! I'm off out for a drive!" "No drinking flower!" "Nah, just fruit juice!" The fruit has fallen It has ripened It has over ripened It has brewed and stewed as it matured His fruit is strong It's confidence intoxicating "Last one mate!" "Sneaky 3 and drive" "Get em in then!" More fruit The tree, beautiful, flowers everywhere Bountiful fruit But the fruit is un ripened not ready to fall Don't shake the tree Crash The tree shakes The fruit falls The petals fall from the flower No more fruit now, it is rotting Just flowers on a lamp post dying in the sun Bearing a note saying "We will always love you flower, Sleep well, Mum and Dad"

Had to make a new profile because my old one doesn't want me to log in anymore. Just wanted to let you know and hope all is well!

That's great Colin! Just didn't want you to think I was offended by your comments as they were totally constructive and balanced. I genuinely appreciate them.

Hi Matt, I'm taking a break from posting for personal reasons and nothing to do with recent shenanigans. I appreciate your concern and thank you for that. I'm still reading new poems that are being posted on WoL and may well add a comment or two if the urge becomes too overwhelming! Cheers, Colin.

Hi Lynn,
Thank you for your comments. The Evil Tree is the latest one that I've done. I'm starting to get more of an idea of what I want to write, but still figuring out this whole poetry thing.

I'll look out for your new poem.

Hi Matt, thank you for your comments on my profile, regarding my poems, and I am glad you like 'Uncertainty'. I've decided to post another which could be a sequel, although hopefully, it could read as a stand alone poem too.

I like your work, especially The Evil Tree. Welcome to Write Out Loud, and please keep writing and sharing.
