Another day has come and passed
Left pain and sadness in its wake
The seconds, minutes, hours amassed
The sun will give the moon will take
The distant friends the loved ones lost
Amid the times of dread disease
Each family will count the cost
And curse the name of days like these
And yet the sky was clearest blue

Teardrop
A
teardrop
for each life lost
a broken heart for friends,
a sadness that never goes away
but gnaws at nerves and silent moments
the desolate times of memory cast hurt shadows
dancing on the twilight walls at the edge of your vision
a friend’s laughter that bonded like mortar holds together bricks
those happy tears can also flow in torrents in a recolle...

Girl With Tear
She was having one of those bad hair days
The crystal blue eyed girl
The perfect lashes
The cultured brow
Outside the sky was the colour of slate
But the diagonal screen kept the night away
All she wanted was some square jawed Joe
To trample into her simple temple
All she ever got was schmucks
Them’s the breaks Daddy-o
Her face like some sunburn...

Head In Hands
Head In Hands
when I bring my hands
to my face
the heels fit precisely
into the sockets of my eyes…
my thumbs circle my temples
but do not soothe or ease the pain…
each of my fingers press
against the bony ridge of forehead…
kneading, coaxing,
pleading for relief…
the insides of each hand
pinch against the aqualine
contours of my nose...

dust settles
dead skin
I trace my finger
through you
wishing you
were here
not gone
in a cloud
of dust
not spread
across my
furniture
like winterfall
and so
I don’t clean
I sit and stare
at the places
you have been
the places
where you
touched me
kissed me
before the rage
and arguments
...
