Decemeber Morning

entry picture

December morning awakens for another day
As the snows begin to fall down from the heavens
And you’re standing there in the cold
Catching snowflakes on your tongue.

I don’t mind the deep white snow
Because it covers up my insecurities
Hides my human frailties
And freezes away my fears.

Yet, I can’t help but feel a certain warmth when I’m around you.

as glass inherits my soul

timed and clear

breakable in an extraterrestrial se...

The smiling sun letting me know
The joy in the white of the snow,
And the blessing of time, and open eyes;
How precious the light in this time of year.

Cold at the Pump

Cold at the pump, I rub my hands together,
But, for a moment, there’s nothing there,
And I search for the pockets of my coat,

My breath faces its very death and fades,
And somewhere in the air, I leave it there,
And notice my time is ticking away,

The cold gets in close and I feel the chill,
When I realize I’m getting mugged by it,
And shiver and shudder at the thought of it,
When all...

Winter Storm Stories

Under an old quilted blanket, starbursts of autumn colors,

We sat, listening to unembellished stories of the past

In the light of mismatched candles placed on flat surfaces,

Throwing occasional shadows to dance on the walls

With a cadence that matched the tempo of her voice

And swept us away to a time when water was fetched.

It was winter both inside and ...
