Thanks for your comment Val - I'm always really grateful for feedback. If it was about kids I would lose that line but it isn't. For some reason Im not sure of, I just have to leave it the way it was written. It'll be buried soon enought though... LOL

Yep Greg, it's a shame Frank doesn't have the same confidence for England that he does for Chelsea. I fear the same process is happening to Mr Rooney...

Thanks for reading and commenting on 'Bite the Bullet' - your comments are always much appreciated.
Sorry you found it a bit obscure - I was looking at the two slightly different meanings and etymology of the phrase - the (misconceived but) common belief that it comes from the battlefield and used as a means to alleviate pain(ie pre-anaesthesia days but this is pretty much discredited), and the second, more modern meaning of suck it up/get on with it; and applying that to a relationship. :)

Thanks for reading and your comments on 'Bite the Bullet' - much appreciated. Yes - I was trying for an attraction/repulsion sort of duality - like the reverse of a magnet.

Anyway - as with all dualitys - I'm in two minds about it ... :)

Hi,
Thanks for reading and commenting on 'Bite the Bullet'.
Sexy, purry voice? ... usually the only time my voice sounds sexy and purry is when I also have a drippy nose, a sore throat ... and I'd rather have a rub with Vicks than a sexual encounter! ;)

Hi - "bullet" - well, maybe I'm just taking it too literally then ?
I thought - 1st verse = make a choice - marry or don't - there is pleasure and pain both ways.
2nd - possession is disliked but his obsession (with her) leaves no choice (fate) & Reality comes too late [to leave any other choice].
3rd - "and nobody cares" - you make your own choices, so if you want the wedded bliss you Bite The Bullet - you take the rough with the smooth. Maybe mine is too literal & you intended something else entirely? Still like it a lot though :)

(Of course I may miss some poems altogether, and in those cases I think I'll make no comment at all! x

hi john
i saw him today.
he cleaned away the dirt tracks near my tyres
and asked me not to pay,
then stood squinting at me in the sun
smiling.

in weather like this, on this day
he fell in love.

I hope he remembers to take home his bread and salt xx

Thank you Dave for reading and commenting on my latest poem
'A Time to Forgive (Biting the Bullet)'...
I wasn't sure I wanted to write it, let alone post it, but the idea and feeling for it had been swirling around in my mind for a couple of days, and so it just came to be.

I always find it interesting to read everyone's take on a theme, along with all of the varying styles. You came up with a great one too - should be lots of fun!

Sorry I missed meeting you when I was there! I had the most amazing time... I will be back : )

Cynthia. Thank you for your lovely comment on Cartooniverse. And in answer to your question, yes I shall be at Freed Up, although I was not aware of the theme until now, so thanks for that. Kind of odd that I've recently written a poem with 'stock still superman' in it, without knowing. Guess it must be Kismet, or something.

Hi Louise,

Thought I'd let you know about our Liverpool poetry night - since you are planning to do something in the city soon.

The LIVER Bards, as the sessions are now called, take place on first Tuesday of each month in the performance space at the beautiful Shipping Forecast bar, Slater St, city centre, L1 4BW, starting 8pm.

It's a straightforward open-mic with poems of humorous, philosphical, political and spiritual content especially welcome.

The first of these new-style nights is tomorrow Tue 7 Sept, starting 8pm. The postal code for the Shipping Forecast is L1 4BW.

PS Am I right in thinking there is a read thru of the Wigan material this coming Thursday in Wigan. What time and where do I turn up? x
