Hi Freda. Thanks for your comments on loco-emotion and re spellings etc. What most folk do on this website (when they have figured it out) is... if someome leave a coment on one of your poems just click on their name and it will take you to their profile then you can leave a message there. You are right that some leave a comment on the poem itself but most of these will be missed. Win x

How good are you to wack a poem out so quickly like that? Maybe I confused ironing for irony - you were ironing something out....
It was good to meet you and yours last night - a great evening.

Irony? Me? lol.

the darn thing just wrote itself in between the washing, drying and ironing so thought it deserved a bit of an airing.

feel very cathartic now that I put it to good use. what do you say? x

Nicky, going back briefly to Falling Stars, I finally have decided to say something reference your much-appreciated comment. The final stanza wasn't a return to a belief/faith system on the narrator's part; it was a realization that any belief system of someone else must be respected, and never belittled. Thoughtlessness is no excuse, ever.

I have several very long poems. I have posted one medium length, but have not ventured into a really long one on this site. Most of my poetry is not as short as Thinking. I do enjoy brief and pithy as a style, but not exclusively. I think that most readers on this site balk at anything beyond 500 words or there-aboutish. But then, just because comments are not made does not mean that our work is not read. We do appreciate some physical evidence though, don't we, vain creatures that we are?
I would greatly value any comments you would ever care to make.

“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here’s Tom with the weather.” Bill Hicks

Hi Isobel, thanx for your comment on Cemetery Gates, yes you're right it is about the dilemna of moving on in life which people struggle with.

I dare say your friend (you can decide if they should read it :-) )and lots of others would identify with it. Its no-one I know, just something I observed.

The only bits that refer to me are the lines about lingering with the dead and skeletons in real life. I'm not so bad with death, its other things I struggle with!

Anyway, glad you like it, your comments and support appreciated as always see ya soon Jeff X

Thanks, I wrote it last night. My daughter asked me to write about Autumn and also the moon (which I have done but not too sure about it at the moment). I like your work some of it could be used in one of the brilliant dark comics such as Watchmen or Dark Knight if you get my drift ' it seems you have just killed the jester' - "you have the right of freedom
If you have enough money." Nice and dark, ready for a fight.

Hi Cynthia - thanks for comment on mine. Your 'Thinking' could be aimed at me - Kipling said not to 'make thought your aim' but what did he know! I often call us the "ape confused by language" but then language also cures. What if we had none, and all thought like pre-verbal infants - or in pictures?

Hi john, I hope you did not take offence at my response to your 'philistine' comment, last night. I had understood by your many contributions to the discussion threads that you could handle a little criticism about what you had said ( and not your poetry, as the management of the site has taken this to mean ) if I caused offence I apologise, but it was purely in defence of other users of the site that I thought your comment would offend. However, I have been reprimanded by the management for my straight talking and free speach, oh and for my language - funny, where did I get that word from? lol.

Good luck and take care.

Thank you Tommy for your really thoughtful and thoughtprovoking comment on 'Single Malt Tears'. You hit the nail on the head, some of us cannot find the balance and succumb to whatever 'oblivion' is available, others of us fight to find the balance that makes things bearable.
