Marianne, hi. Thanks a lot for your comment on my poem today. Much appreciated! It's still too new for me to know whether it's any good or not. TB

Tee hee - was never good at maths...
Re the audio - it is probably only worth fiddling round as an experiment if it is easy for you to do so. It is far better with the echo than without - a sound effect that really fits a purpose. You may find it works better all the way through - it was just an idea... x

AND ANOTHER THING! ;-) In Poetess, the verse I don't like so much and would have cut, Chris Dawson (whose opinion I very much value) says she likes that bit the best. So what's a girl to do?? Maybe it's best to write then leave for a month then take another look, but I simply cannot do that. When I write something I like to get it out there, then it's on to the next one.

Hi Anthony.
Thanks for comment on Pandora's Box. While you were commenting I was reading your poem about Neil and went on to read his story. Both pieces are so engaging and sensitively written. Something I shall read again I am sure.
I have a tragic story to tell from years gone by that affected my family. Will probably post it in August.
Best wishes. Dave

Hi Gus - thank you for commenting on Poetess. Editing (editting?) scares the whatever out of me, I don't know why but that's probably a common thing with newish poets who haven't studied writing poetry. It's the fear of losing the good bits perhaps. If I try and edit this one, may I put it here as a comment on your profile page and see what you think? Or is there an editing school I can go to! ;-) xx

Yes!
I'm with Gus - the last pic was very short-lived!
Thank you for visting "Neil" and your helpful and generous comments. I agree with all you say re the audio. I'm not too sure what I'm doing with it at the moment - a learning curve; so any comments/technical assistance are/is appreciated. I'll have a play around with it, but I'm pleased you saw what I had in mind. Sorry if I made you cry - it makes me cry too when I think about him.
Regards,A.E. x
p.s. You miscalculated - it's "LI" not "LII" - "LII" is sooo next year!

Hi Cate,
Thanks for visiting "Neil" and your comments. I guess it's a story that's haunted me all of my life. It was a strange and somehow comforting experience to write about him and share it with people. I guess the truth of the story makes it more powerful. Perhaps truth is, as they say STRONGER than fiction. I'm pleased it touched you.
Regards,
A.E.

Hi - Ann - yes I guess we should WALOP. Only problem being that people must email me with poems they feel worthy of nomination, for us then to all to vote on a winner. I have only had a couple of people do that so far. Do you have a list for me? If so, do email me... I will put a reminder up tomorrow. I guess Pandora's box may end up on two lists - but that doesn't matter, since the original idea was just a bit of fun.

Hi Isobel,
Thanks for your comments on 'Play Me', glad you liked it.
I've never tried a didgeridoo ... I don't think I'd be able to blow one, I prefer something much smaller and with a little more sophistication to it - like my clarinet. I agree though that finishing on a diminuendo is lovely.
:)

Hi Andy - thanks for your comments on 'Play Me' - glad you liked it. Perform it live! ... I think I'd be way too embarrassed! I have only managed to perform one of my own live so far, and that was with Paul & Winston's support - utterly nerve-wracking!

Well, my point has been validated. My London geography is so bad that the place is not even in London. My knowledge of Liverpool is strictly limited to Brookside Close. Pretty shameful considering my Dad lived down there for 5 years or so.

Re "Family" poem. Gordon Bennet! I don't have to make sense do I? ;-) Anyway, thanks for commenting. I guess, Tommy, I was trying to imply (possibly in a Native American animal spirit way - tho the animals are not from there - except eagles) how I would like to choose different characteristics from different creatures, to be my ideal family. I am not a very literal person!

Hi Cynthia,
Thank-you for reading & commenting on 'Pandora's Box', your comments are always much appreciated.
Yes, I think you're maybe right about the choice to indulge curiosity being the exercise of free will, can I claim poetic licence?
I think also the discussion of what is free will etc is quite a complicated one; the (what I believe to be)myth of Pandora ties up very well with the (what I believe to be) myth of the creation story; certainly in Pandora's case - she did as Zeus had manipulated her into doing, is the same true of Eve? - not sure.
I believe both stories, both women, both gods to be entirely fictitious.
I do believe, however, that we are programmed according to a mutable mix of biological imperatives, chemicals, social conditioning, personal history etc ... so if we're programmed, do we still have completely free will?Interesting point you made!
:)

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. A sequel? Argh, don't think i'm up to that!!As for apologising, well, i think it's in my nature to say for sorry for most things i do! The stuff i write just seems to be there and i kinda feel like a fraud when people comment positively on them. I suppose i should just say ta and get on with it ha ha.
Thank you for a lovely comment x
