Tommy - you're on the money with the comment in Stalingrad, the resourcefulness and desperation of the rape victim is supposed to be evoked in the close of this poem. I have not mentioned whether the soldiers perpetrating this particular crime to be of any nationality.

War does things to people that takes away humanity from some people yet strengthens the spirit of humanity in others.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your comment although i wasn't sure what you meant by 'agreeing' or not? What with in particular? My eye caught something about mary bell somewhere on the internet so i decided to have a look-see at her story, what i have written is just based on the basic points of the news reports. I am intrigued by murder and what makes people do these sorts of things, find it really interesting lol x

Hi Ann,

I had hoped the nursery rhyme type thing worked! Thanks for your comments. I kind of do believe in evil as an 'living' entity but i think it's a sketchy area, particularly in a child so young. Does make me want to know more though. Look forward to seeing yours soon x

Not up to much, other than trying to keep kids occupied - at least we have some fine weather - that makes a nice change! May go to poetry pillow - could do with a night out and Max's set should be good. Maybe see you there. x

Hello Ann. Glad you liked Brown Study. I should imagine there's too many people on WOL for a similar exercise to be successful.I'm not in touch with that poet any more. Her name is Suzanne and she lives in Finland. Not much help really is it!

Hi Lyn,

Thanks for taking the time to read "Visiting Neil" and Neil's story. I realise that it can never be writing that you can say you "enjoy" reading - that's not the right word. But, if it moved you in some way, then that was entirely my intention. I hope you are enjoying your introduction to WOL - there's certainly plenty to read - and people to meet.

p.s. Your "I Thought of You" is a little bit racy I think? Liked it though!

Regards,
A.E.

Can't get poor Neil out of my head. I went pot holing once. The most horrible experience! I think I may have heard a radio 4 programme about this incident (Neil) a couple of years ago. So haunting! And tragic too. And the audio is splendid. My favourite poem for a long time.

To capture souls more generous than yours." is a great line. Look forward to more poems from you!

Hi Lee,

And welcome to WOL. I guess the best way to get into the site is to take a look around - especially the blog and discusions - and if you see something that's interesting drop a comment in! You'll soon find everyone is generally friendly and quite helpful if you think you might need some feedback, advice or assistance. Go for it - and have fun.

If you can be bovvered - my son has a version of cubase and can fiddle round with your poem - adding echo at the beginning and end - you would need to send me the audio file...also tell me whether you want single or double echo and where - the double echo is very heavy - you wouldn't want too much of it.
