Moby Dick

Richard Smith is on his way

To sell his products on this new day

As a salesman he’s cool and slick

On his van is painted ‘Moby Dick’

Nothing worth buying that ‘ain’t on board

From milk and bread to fags of course

From early morning his round is set

No need to surf the internet

For anyone else to deliver your stuff

Of Moby Dick people can’t get enough

Sausages, pies, chips and bacon,

Washing powder, bog rolls not forsaken

Dick has thought of everything needed

Even fresh grapes that are ready unseeded

If it’s a rug you want then Dick’s your man

He’s got stacks of them hanging on the van

He’ll even carry your goods in for you

In return for a chinwag and a brew

So don’t delay get your order in quick

Make a call on the blower to Moby Dick

The Urban Poet 2020
