DAYS OF WHINE AND POSES

Hardly a day goes by in this snowflake age

Without a media rant and rage

And repeated warnings of this and that

While the media moguls are growing fat

On what they feed the gullible masses

With what they presume successfully passes

For fact to trouble the susceptible mind

That wakes each morning expecting to find

The result from posters I can clearly recall

That prophesied to one and all

Repent...repent...oh heedless friend

The world is coming to an end.

Maybe so - but maybe not yet;

Who would ever chance to bet

On what is heard from a modern Moses

In these Days of Whine and Poses?

Po - I had a look at the link you kindly provided - MOST interesting.
Certainly it gives food for thought on a subject to be borne in mind (oops) about ourselves.. It reinforces, for example, my view of the effects of music on the brain and reminds me also of the theme of
a book (later made into a film) "The Manchurian Candidate". The
degrees - and the assessments - of intelligence are certainly a matter for study - especially origin and effect. There is the reported
story of Einstein attending a concert given by a famous violinist and
going backstage afterwards to congratulate the soloist and tell him
"Now I know God exists". The brain is the greatest wonder of
humanity's existence and we know so little about it and its potential.
As for my poem - feel free to use it...as long as you attribute origin
but not blame ho-ho !. .?
Brian - thanks as always for taking the trouble to comment on my material.

As you say Mark we are all influenced by the press, TV, or increasingly these days by social media. But if you went away for a few months and had no access to these would you notice any difference? Probably not.
