Clouds Dancing in the Sky

entry picture

Looking up at the clouds so high

Watching colors stretch across the sky

As they combine and spread apart gracefully

An ever-changing work of art slowly slips by

As the sun first wakes

Golden hues are painted on the tips

I’m struck by the beauty

How lucky I am to be a witness

As the sun slowly dances across the sky

The image changes as clouds come and go

Feathery wisps of cotton stretch out

While others appear as the atomic bomb exploded

As the sun reaches the western horizon

The colors of the rainbow come back for a second act

Purple, pink, red, and orange are coated in layers

Until the colors slowly fade to black

Thanks, Tom. It’s in our nature as poets to be in tuned with ourselves and our surroundings.

I agree with Don. Simple and beautiful writing, very effective. You're lucky to have been so relaxed and in tune with your surroundings as to capture it so clearly.

Thanks, Don, for the generous comment. This is an older poem I cleaned up and wasn’t sure if it worked. Glad you enjoyed it. ?

I was struck by the simplicity of language you used Mika to describe a simple everyday phenomenon.. Simple, but artistic language. Why should I think anything less? You are a poet.

'How lucky I am to be a witness'. How many are blind to this beauty? Yes indeed, we should count ourselves lucky. Maybe poets are more aware of surrounding beauty? And give thanks for this......
