It's Christmas - Get Me Out Of Here

entry picture

In late November tinseltown is on the distant horizon
The clock is ticking and the countdown has begun
Yuletide bells are ringing loudly in my head
It seems to get earlier every year - am I the only one ?
Black Friday starts the frenzied stampede of buying
Amazon and ebay encourage us to freely spend
Don't get me started on the big budget tv campaigns
The onslaught continues in sight there is no end
Welcome one and all to the annual festive season
I am lost in a commercial jungle never fear
It's Christmas - Get me out of here

Cards are written and sent to folk you hardly ever meet
Presents are wrapped recycled and found homes anew
A feast is prepared and the table is laden with food galore
As you dine and gorge with relatives that make you blue
Sat in front of the telly stuffed and ready to burst
Gather round you festive folk the queen is about to speak
My husband and I have had yet another Annas horribilis
Another year ends and the outlook is rather bleak
I shall visit my miserable friend namely Ebenezer Scrooge
And wallow in self pity but won't shed a single tear
It's Christmas - Get me out of here

Good pre Christmas poem Tom. I wonder what does the Queen watch at 3pm on Christmas Day...herself maybe?
