Space Reversal

Space Reversal

Expansion – do you like it ?

I must admit I don't

More people, cars, pollution

Give me more space ? - you won't

In fact your space reversing

A feeling I can't bear

It makes me claustrophobic

Don't think you really care

Perhaps I'm just old-fashioned

And long for yesterday

When people, cars, pollution

Did not get in my way

Forgetting me, I worry

For those who'll follow on

Expansion, do we need it ?

Or is it all a con ?

Politicians call out

Expand, expand, they rant

But quality of life is

To me, more im-por-tant

House blocks are now minimal

Ceilings scrape your head

Where are childhood backyards ?

Disappeared – all dead

Immigration is the answer

Our politicians say

Bring them in in thousands

More taxes come our way

But here's the problem reader

More stuff produced by all

But spread 'round with more people

So no gain overall

Cut down on immigration

Give us more room to move

Less people, cars, pollution

Life-quality will improve

Great piece Don. Never understood why we always have to produce more, more, more and even more. 'Quality of life is to me more im-por-tant.' 'More stuff produced by all , but spread around............?

Well said , Jennifer

Who can argue with the logic of this piece. Like the old comment
about motorways needed to help ease traffic flow: build them and they will come. So, no end in sight...except someone's
backside - or the car ahead of you!!

Get out there into the Outback Don, there's plenty of space for you out there! Precious little else!
