Eight of Swords – Fear – I just can’t, Restriction, bondage

Interpretation: This card represents fear, restriction, blockages and limitations. Often they are self-imposed. It symbolises imprisonment and bondage. You may be feeling trapped and unable to move. This card suggest that the fear and bondage comes from your headspace and you are reluctance to try something new. If you look at the card you will notice that there is still water laying around the bonded woman who is also surrounded by the swords, this water is a mirror image reflecting something that the woman does not wish to see. This card shows that the seeker is willing putting themselves through this torment and unwilling to cut their bondages with the blade all around them to set themselves free and remove the blindfold. Perhaps the seekers emotions are getting the better of them and their headspace is causing them to be in the situation they are in now. The water behind the woman is very rough and the storm clouds behind her suggest that if she does not remove herself from where she is them she will suffer greatly under the hands of the raging storm which is fast approaching. This card shows both an emotional and a headspace conflict that is causing the seeker to feel trapped. You may be feeling trapped and unable to communicate effectively but you will have to face your fears soon before the storm completely consumes you. If you are stuck in a rut it is probably of your own demise.

Reversed: The reversed eight of swords indicate that you are now able to break free of the fears and anxieties that have been limiting you. You have cut the bondages and removed the blindfold and you can now see more clearly. You are now about to deal the factors which was affecting the situation and overcome the obstructions that kept you from moving forward. This card indicates new beginning and respite from fear.
