Mind + Body + Soul

entry picture

My mind

Is on the blink trouble ahead I think

Another fine day in paradise I pray

Reality strikes home and I am all alone

It’s time to talk what do you have to say?

The statistics reveal that one in four

Are affected in some kind of way

The date on the wall is October 10

World Mental Health Day alright okay?

My body

Exudes an air of peace serenity and calm

Look deep into my eyes you will see a raging storm

Schizophrenia is the diagnosis that labels me

Every day is a struggle to maintain the norm

I realise that I am not alone in my endless plight

Depression, Anxiety Psychosis, OCD, self-harm

Many suffer in deafening silence day and night

All that’s needed is care and compassion not alarm

My soul

Is like a tortuous lonely prison cell hell

An incarceration with no chance of reprieve

Medication alone cannot ease the pain

Laughter and humour can offer some light relieve

Hey good people look around you today

It could be affecting those you hold dear

A little understanding goes a long way

World Mental Health Day – You hear!

Hi Tom

I missed this, glad I found it.

It looks like you have found the key to your incarceration.

Poetry I find is my salvation in moments of disrepair and unrest.
