A Green Planet

A Green Planet

War has been declared on all fossil fuels

The planet must be protected at all costs

Too little, too late

For centuries we have littered the world

It has been used and abused

Ocean beds are covered with sunken ships

Unexploded ordinance lies deep in the soils of many lands

Chemicals have scarred the home of humanity

Fish grow into grotesque mutations barely recognisable

Take what you like from life says God, take what you like

But pay for it

The price is now being paid

as every vehicle ignition is turned

as every aircraft takes to the air

as every power station burns oil and coal

as every plastic bottle grows into an indestructible mountain

But pay for it

as every bomb is manufactured

as every tree is felled

as every glacier melts

as sea levels rise and cry no more

But we forget and ignore

as there is no concerted effort

to save our Green Planet

We have more pressing concerns

Take what you like from life says God, take what you like

but pay for it

Pay back time has arrived

◄ Let them be....

Keith, 'A Green Planet' speaks loud and clear to us all.
It appears me, mine, and I are more important than communal life and love, inclusive of all beings, known and not.

Poets you lot
You're off with the pixies
Leave it to us
We guarantee fixies

We sit on our thrones
In charge of all things
We'll patch the world up
Repair all these dings

Your shit, politicians
Your full of shit greed
Like all the rest of us
A shit greed-like breed

Although I am cynical
I believe it's the truth
What more can I say?
As Aussie, shit strewth!

While comfort it may be
Hanging out for the pollies
To solve all our problems
They spout wafflepolly

I've said it before
And I'll say it again
It needs a mass movement
(Strong leader to lead....)

Thankyou Rose for the first two lines of last verse.

I think change will only come about from a mass movement of people rising up (with a strong leader) to 'force' politicians into the wishes of the people. The recent protests on climate change by young ones around the world is a start. Yes?

Jennifer,

Thank you for your comment. The real culprits are those whose appetite for money knows no bounds; big business and their lapdogs the politicians.

Liked this one. They've been telling us for the last 20 years that if we went on as we were, and are doing, it would come to a point where the situation would no longer be reversable. Trump even refuses to acknowledge the problem.

Philipos,Don and Rose,

Thank you for your interest and comments. However, I do think it is too late. The political leaders will either ignore or procrastinate.

I don't give a damn
God what you tell me
I'll have it, right now
(And bugger the rest......)

I'll take what I want
Cos I'm the best dressed
What's that you are saying?
The planet I've messed)?

Don't know what you're talking about?......

Yes, I'm with you every inch of the way Keith. The earth doesn't belong to just once species as in human kind. Other aspects, creatures, plants, and trees etc - they have to be considered too. What are we like us humans always over fishing our resources. ?
