UNTIL THE DARKNESS COMES

UNTIL THE DARKNESS COMES.

Her light is fading slowly

But the memories which made us one

Will burn brightly in my heart

Until forever ends

There are no guarantees

Only the inevitable

I may lose the shell which surrounds her

But her essence will always be

The other half of me.

Our souls will be

Entwined, inseparable

As long as memory endures

Surely sadness will overwhelm

But not yet

Even so

Sadness and departure

Are part of living

And when her light is finally extinguished

I will have to deal with it

And the sadness which will envelop me

The tears which will fall

Within the privacy of memory

Will become a welcome friend

Until then

I will greedily consume

Every second granted

Tell her how much I love her

Remind her of our crazy

Happy time together

Until the darkness comes.
