A Flame never extinguished

A Flame never extinguished

The flame of sensual passion

has been dimmed to a gentle glow

The ardour of love remains strong

but a little frayed at the edges

The longing lingers unabated

at times given renewed energy

The salad days driven by lust

had an unquenchable zeal

Have bowed gracefully with age

admitting that the pinnancle has been reached

In this undulating sea of romance

the shore is of no great distance

Because love takes on a new vesture

where heated passion gracefully surrenders

to a deeper more mature emotion

Love does not die nor become redundant

but is reborn in a tenderness anew

Love endures with the fruits of patience

it survives through the need of the other

The storms of passion have subsuded

to a union of two hearts lived as one

Two who still harbour the memories of yesteryear

now value each passing hour

Nice and lovely Keith.
Indeed love need one another to exist.

Beautifully written. If more people realised this there would be fewer couples splitting up!

one to swoon to Keith. Really beautiful and sensuously deep.
