Common Sense

Common Sense

is not so common any more

it was eliminated by our

education system

people think only a college education

makes you smart

that a degree is the only way

to achieve success

but common sense

prevailed for years and years

and people got along just fine

then computers came along

and made us dependent on them

subsequently

our brains are not being developed

since computers do our thinking

our brains have atrophied

and we have lost the DNA

for common sense and

no longer pass it down

it's bad that common sense

has been eliminated from our society

because it used to keep things working

and running smoothly

we were so much wiser

when common sense prevailed

now we don't have the common sense

our parents were born with

and stupidity reigns as never before

with all our technology

people are actually dumber than ever

and common sense

sadly

is now uncommon.

Who needs to remember anything? We have google for that.
Humans needn't be smart. We have phones for that.
Why should people need to connect? We have fiber-optics for that.

A solid commentary DK. I know we probably sound like geezers crying about the youth. But times are vastly different now. Tech has turned us all into click machines, much to their bankrolls.

Timely and thought-provoking. How ironic that so-called "social"
networking seems to achieve increased alienation and isolation.
"Think for yourself" was a common phrase when I was growing up.
But as with anything increasingly reliant on the "easy" way of doing
things, the mechanics can become rusty/weakened through lack of
use and we lose what could well be life-saving reactions towards
sudden unexpected threatening situations.

Very true, it never ceases to amaze me that even though, these days we are surrounded by communication technology and it has literally never been easier to speak to anyone in the world, there seems to be more social isolation than ever before.
Now if that doesn't go against all common sense, I don't know what does.

I'm struck with awe about you
dk, your common sense
You've understood the problem
Why we today are dense....
